“The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry “ Robert Burns
As you have read in my previous posts things did not go as planned. Missed flight to Paris but I did eventually make it to Biarritz but my backpack decided it wanted some extra time in Paris! So I arrived in Biarritz on Saturday morning and while my backpack arrived at the airport Saturday evening I have been told that I will get it by 2pm today – Monday!
Lesson: learn to manage expectations. They say 2pm, I’m hoping for 4pm. There is a train to St Jean Pied de Port at 5pm, so I should be able to start hiking tomorrow; only one day later than planned.
While it’s disappointing and frustrating, I must not try to control the things I can’t control. Honestly the worse part is that I have been wearing the same clothes since Thursday but at least I have clothes.
I could be stuck in a worse place. Biarritz is truly a wonderful French seaside resort. The hotel I have been staying at is, I believe, the best hotel I have ever stayed at. It’s not the fanciest, 5 ⭐️hotel, but all the staff have been so helpful and they have gone above the call of duty. Management will be getting a letter from me and it will be one letter that I am looking forward to writing. I am also looking forward to writing a letter to Air France!

So while here I may as well make the best of the situation.

I may as well eat well now as for the next 40 days I may only be eating bread!

Stay tuned for updates.
C’mon backpack!! That sunrise is beautiful and so is the pizza! 😋
