Day 1 St. Jean Pied-de-Port to Roncesvalles – DONE

6:06 am St John Pied de Port

The first day is over. After walking 24.8km I made it to Roncesvalles. There were many times today I questioned why am I do it, or my body can’t handle this for the next 40 days, but I got through it.

Finish, I’m not sure if I’m happy or about to cry!

But after a good shower and laying in a bed, I am proud of my accomplishment. There is so much to see and say but for now I’ll just post a few sites.

A few friends I met on the way.

This one was waiting for the traffic to go by!

See you tomorrow.

    1. They are free living! They are use to people but not officially owned by anyone. Cows, goats, and sheep are the mainstay and they are all marked with a tag, a spray painted section and where a bell. Only one has a collar so it is a group that the locals keep an eye on.

  3. Hi Lawrence, I’m just catching up on your posts. It was an adventure just for you and your backpack to arrive! I love how you took all of that in stride and surrendered to what you couldn’t control. Your first day on the path sounds like an achievement/challenge/adventure. I guess that’s why people do it? I love the pics and commentary. Please, keep them coming.
