Day 3: Larrasoana to Cizur Menor – DONE

This is for yesterday, while I work on today’s

This day was slightly easier than the last 2 days but not to the point of saying “that was easy!”

I left this morning just after 6am and finished walking 6 hours and 10 minutes later. So by 1pm I could stop and recover for tomorrow. A free afternoon is a gift.

One of the things I thought about today was the privilege I have in doing this hike. I asked myself “why am I doing this?” It occurred to me that in one way it’s because I can. I was reminded that some people don’t have the privilege of walking just for the sake of walking. Whether due to physical limitations and for some they are walking to flee for their lives when caught in their war torn home. They are walking in search of a better life. They walk out of necessity. I hope I don’t forget the privilege I have been given.

Again in one day I have seen and heard so much it is really hard to comprehend. And it’s not just the scenery but also the people. As an example within a 15 minute time period in Pamplona; one person gave me a 👍, another gave me a 👏, then I thought I took a wrong turn, I stopped and was going to turnaround but someone stopped me and pointed me in the right direction, without me ever having to ask for it, shortly afterwards 2 people were chatting and said ‘go El Camino’. If you open up to the world, the world will open up for you.

This is for you Peggy S. 😀

  2. Love this posting, Lawrence, esp. your thoughts about your privilege. So true! I suspect you will have many more insights as you walk on. Thanks for sharing them with us.
