Day 6: Villamayor de Monjardín to Torres del Rio

I am one day away from taking a full day off. Monday evening I am checking into a hotel in Logarno and checking out on Wednesday morning. An opportunity to rest and recuperate for the next week. I will have a room to myself, with a comfy mattress and pillow, with a bathroom that is just for me! That is luxury with a capital L!

My hips and knees are competing with each other! I’m more sore than you are! Oh yea! And my thighs have stopped talking to my calves. And please don’t ask about my toes!!!

I am on Highway A535.

While that is true, today I found my mantra for this journey: Faith. I will write more about this as the days go forward. I was viewing this as an ordeal or a challenge to overcome and while that is true I realize that it is more of a journey. A journey without a destination.

  2. Just thinking of you as you will be into day 7 now and I’m sure so looking forward to your night in a hotel. What a treat that will be, and well deserved after an amazing accomplishment so far. Love seeing your pictures along the way – scenery is beautiful and even more so I would imagine when the sun is coming up on your early morning starts. Enjoy your soak in your tub tonight – your whole body will thank you for it. Sleep well and enjoy your day off tomorrow🥰

  3. Yay. Great insights and stories and pictures, Lawrence. Enjoy your day off. I have two questions: 1) How would a vegetarian do on this journey foodwise? 2) What book are you reading?

    1. Hi Rita, the mainstay is bread, tomato, cheese and egg. While I love the bread, I now love a meal without it. 😀 To be honest meat is not a big part of the diet on the way. With planning it is very doable. I am ready Agent Josephine by Damien Lewis. If you want to learn about a powerful, courageous, altruistic, talented person then you should read it, plus it’s nice to know that this person was female, black and nothing would stop her! Maybe that’s why she found me as I needed her strength.

      1. Thanks for your replies, Lawrence! I’ll put Agent Josephine on my “read later” list. And if I ever do this walk, I guess I’ll be all set. Love all the mainstay ingredients you mentioned. I know what you mean about the bread… ;)).
