Day Nine and sort of fine

My goal for day 9 was to walk from Logroño to Najera, a distance of 30.9 kilometres.

After a full day of rest I was expecting to be all set for another long successful walk, but after about 5 km my left hip and the top of my right foot became sore! Usually it’s my right hip and never the top of my foot. Even with this I did make it to Navarette slowly. So the adjusted plan was to stay there. I took my boots off, rested and had something to eat.

After this I had the thought of trying to walk to Ventosa. I would set out and if the pain returned I would turn around. However the pain never returned but still decided to stop at Ventosa. This village is not on the Camino just a slight deviation. I did not know this so ended up walking right by it and by the time I realized this it was too late to turn around. So the thing to was continue on to Nahera.

This was the toughest day, even more than day 1. Full sun and no shade from about 7:30 till I arrived at 4pm.

I am glad it’s over and what were the lessons from today?

Listen to your body.

Don’t be arrogant; (just because the first 7 days went better than expected doesn’t mean the next will be likewise.

Have Faith

Faith that I can do this journey.

Faith that my body is healthy enough to handle this journey.

Faith that my mind is strong enough to get me through this journey.

I don’t have many pictures from today as I focused on my body and not the scenery.

My breakfast, it’s not always coffee and croissant
I’m under the 600km mark

That’s all I got for today. Thank you for your support and encouragement. I feels like you are all here with me.

  1. John says we think about you everyday, and if the journey is a life lesson, then it teaches us the courage and the power it takes to overcome adversity. Keep the faith and listen to you body, rest up when necessary🥰

  3. Thanks for letting us know about the hard things, too… the tendency might be to “gloss over them” and not mention your struggles. I appreciate your honesty and your sharing both – wins and losses. Life consists of both, right?

Loved your breakfast “pan con huevos”!!!

  4. Life does come with struggles and you have overcome many !! So you already know you can do this !! Maybe try putting Voltaren on before walking to warm up the muscles and sore spots. Showing Mom your pics and she is enjoying them.
    Take care. ❤️ You 🥰
