Day 18: Carrión de Los Condes to Terradillos de Templarios

The day started with a moon set and a sunrise.

Moon
I have never seen the moon this colour!
Sun

After a nice day off and feet that went for a swim, it was nice to get back on my way. The terrain was not strenuous just long, exposed, with long sections with nothing in between.

Many miles of this!

Until you come upon…

An oasis!

Early yesterday morning I went into a church and listened to 4 nuns reciting their morning prayers. Today I thought about their devotion to their Faith. They are unwavering in their convictions, even though at times they may have doubts, they are devoted to their God.

I thought about this idea of being so committed to something that you become unwavering in all you do. Frustration may be present at times, but it doesn’t diminish devotion.

Teachers who are devoted to their students so that they get the best education possible.

Nurses devoted to their patients so that they can get well and go home.

Lawyers who are devoted to clients so that their human rights are respected and protected.

Parents devoted to providing their children with a safe, warm, loving and joyful home.

My observation is that the devotion is directed towards someone other than themselves but they are also a beneficiary of that devotion. The more you give, the more you get.

Where is your devotion directed?

  1. This is lovely and I always believed devotion directed outwards without expectation or any personal gain is truly one of the most pure ways of love. It’s unfiltered and strong. I am grateful to see your vision and B and I are both happy to see you staying well hydrated xo
